INTERVIEW:

  1. What or who inspired you to start writing?

From as early as I can remember, I have always loved reading. Writing, not so much. But all of my previous writing experience had been a required task for school. Then one day I couldn’t settle on a book to read and decided I needed a hobby. Writing seemed to stick, and now I don’t know how I lived without it.

  1. How did you come up with ideas for your books?

I swear some of my ideas fall out of the sky. I go for a jog and bam, something hits me. Sometimes, though, I have to spend a lot more time brainstorming, purposely going on drives or walks where I think on my story until I get an idea.

  1. What would you want your readers to know about you that might not be in your bio?

When I look at my bio, my life looks kind of exciting. What the bio fails to say is I am very normal – boring even. My ideal day is to stay at home, drink coffee, and write.

  1. As far as your writing goes, what are your future plans?

To continue writing. My belief is if I continue learning, which I learn more with each novel I write, that my books will get better and better. I won’t give up, and that’s my strategy. Using bullheaded determination.

  1. Do you belong to a critique group? If so how does this help or hinder your writing?

No. I probably should but I never joined one. I didn’t believe I could dedicate myself fully to the group, because most of my free time is spent working on my own novels. I have a toddler at home, so if I want to write, I have to carve out time to do so, usually at night. I run on coffee, so adding the responsibilities of a critique group probably would have done me in.

  1. When did you first decide to submit your work? Please tell us what or who encouraged you to take this big step?

This requires a little backstory. I wrote my first novel with the plan of keeping a copy in a drawer somewhere and pulling it out every once in a while – for my viewing only. I literally wrote my first novel for myself. But the more time I put into my work, the more I started to question if I shouldn’t at least try to submit it. My husband agreed, so when I felt my novel was polished, I submitted it. And then received rejection and revised it extensively, but that’s a story for another time.

  1. Do you outline your books or just start writing?

I start with a very rough general outline in my head and then write. My method is not something I would recommend to anyone because I end up revising so much. But it seems to work for me so I doubt I’ll change my methods anytime soon.

  1. Have you started your next project? If so, can you share a little bit about your book?

I am currently working on the fourth and final novel in my Entangled Nobility Series. I won’t say too much, only that the hero – Lord Thornwick – has been my favorite hero to write. I love him, but then, I’m kind of a sucker for the Alpha Hero.

  1. Can you tell us a little about the black moment in your book?

How could someone like him, come to love someone like her? – That line from the book about sums up the heroine’s struggle. In To Entice an Earl, the heroine falls for the hero but knows he will never return her feelings. The tough part? There is little she can do about it. And the hero has his own demons to contend with, so they part ways. It’s rough, but if there’s one thing we can all count on in a romance, it’s that love will win.

  1. What is your favorite reality show?

I shudder admitting this, but I love Are You the One? on MTV. I feel like a part of my brain dies after every viewing, but it’s addictive and I can’t seem to stop.

  1. Can you tell us a little bit about what it was like to write a series.

In some ways, I find it easier to write a series. I don’t have to come up with names in the following books because I already decided on them, and I’ve already created a world with plenty of side characters. But then, I have to ensure the characters remain the same throughout the books. It gets a bit tricky, but I’ve found that I love the challenge. I’m already planning on another series, which is a spin-off of this one, and can’t wait for the challenge it will present.

  1. Anything else you might want to add?

I am so grateful for all the people who have taken the time to read my novels. I still find it hard to believe I have actual novels out there. Some days, I swear I’m going to wake up and it will all have been a dream. So, thank you all for making this reality.

BLURB:

Miss Alexandra Farris lost her heart to her older brother’s friend, Lord Maxon Collins, long, long ago. Despite her girlhood attempts to win him, he never noticed her. Now that her first season is underway, she understands why. He prefers willowy blondes, not curvaceous maidens with darker coloring like herself. Rather than wallow in self-pity, she forgets love and focuses on something more attainable—an advantageous match.

Lord Collins is plagued by an uncomfortable feeling whenever he goes near Miss Farris. One of annoyance. And yet, he can’t seem to stop thinking of her, touching her, kissing her…He must act in her brother’s stead, which means he has to approve her suitor and ensure her safety. Unfortunately, he can’t seem to find a worthy gentleman.

Wedding her off should be a simple task, but not if he can’t let her go.

EXCERPT:

“I have too given you compliments.”

“Really?” She exhaled. “Name one.”

He contemplated the matter for a moment and then said, “I told you your hair was prettier in disarray.”

She had forgotten that. “So you said one thing. Congratulations.”

“Thank you.” He swept an exaggerated bow and smirked up at her.

“That is not something to be proud of. Why, it’s not even that monumental a compliment.”

He straightened, and a light flared in his eyes. There had always been an easy mood between them, but he had never looked at her in such a way before. It was almost, well, sinful.

“Allow me to remedy my error, then.” He caught her hand in his, and gazed deep into her eyes. “Your eyes remind me of a summer storm.” Her gaze faltered from his, but he continued. “Your skin is as smooth as fine porcelain, and your hair is made of the most enticing curls I have ever seen. I can imagine your freed hair would make a man lose his senses. And lastly, you have deliciously kissable lips.”

She swallowed. His ridiculous, probably oft-used lines had the most amazing effect on her. Her knees had grown weak, and her mind was slow to focus. “I-I d-don’t think…” Her voice trailed off as he chuckled.

“With that said, you also possess a tremendous ability to irritate me beyond comprehension.”

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

Naomi Boom never expected to love writing. Her inspiration struck while searching for the perfect historical romance novel to read. Nothing sounded appealing, so she decided to write her own. That one novel has morphed into a series, and hopefully many, many more.

She resides in her home state of South Dakota with her husband and toddler. Her dream is to someday find an acreage where she can raise chickens and, naturally, continue her writing.
