Family Writing Survival 101

I’ve been writing since 1994 and published my first book in 1998. Since then I’ve published 21 full length books and 3 novellas. I’m presently working on my 22nd full length book and my fourth novella.
I’ve been fortunate. My family has never been anything but supportive, my husband encouraging. No drama here, except on my end. Of course while they were rooting for me, they were also disappointed in the many rejections.
I’ve spent hours, going to RWA meeting, planning and hosting conferences fro the Willamette Valley RWA. I’ve met famous authors and not so famous authors.
I have good and bad days as far as my writing goes. Ten years ago I’d write ten to twenty pages a day. Now I hope to get five pages a week. Sometimes I write more sometimes I don’t sit down at the keyboard except to look at Facebook.
When I first started, I wrote with my old college typewriter where nobody would know I was writing. But when my husband found out my ambitions, he brought an old computer/keyboard home from work. And when I once told my mom that I could write a book, her words, “then just do it.” And I believe that was before Nike coined the phrase.
Now, I don’t know if I’ll ever have an explosion of words again, but I will certainly continue with a part of my life, I thoroughly enjoy.
