What or who inspired you to start writing?

I believe that great authors inspire me to write. Whenever I read a book and meet fantastic characters, interesting plots, great settings… I feel that there’s something that I have to share with people, too.

How did you come up with ideas for your books?

There’s many things that inspire me: my family and friends, observing what happens around me, situations that I live, stories that I hear… so I guess that it’s basically life in general that inspires me.

What expertise did you bring to your writing?

Teaching and education. I’ve been an educator for the last twelve years. I taught Reading/Literature, Language Arts, Science, Math, Spanish and French. Later on, I got different rolls around the school. One of them regarding organization and processes (which if you read The Bridesmaid’s Checklist series, you’ll see the connection). I also studied design, and I’m in love with drawing, painting and lettering.

I believe that when writing, we give out books and characters a part of ourselves. I know there’s traits in each that are part of me. There’s specially a scene in Natalie’s Wedding that I talk about hangers (and how the main character selects them and orders her clothing) that tells a lot about the character and some about me.

What would you want your readers to know about you that might not be in your bio?

Probably that some people might see me as a geeky nerd. I super into reading, and not only books, but comics and manga. Lately I love watching series, that goes from paranormal, to comedy and romance, and it includes anime.

As far as your writing goes, what are your future plans?

Keep writing!

If you could be one of the characters from any of your books, who would it be and why?

Probably Laura. Why? ‘Cause she’s everything I’m not. She’s strong, determined, posh, unapologetic… and yeah, a complete witch at times.

I’m more like Kassandra and Natalie, and I believe they’re great people :), but sometimes, it would be fun to be different.

And well, if I could be a boy I’d be Josh. He’s so hot and cool, my favorite guy.

If you were the casting director for the film version of your novel, who would play your leading roles?

You bet I have my dream cast 😀

Do you outline your books or just start writing?

Depending of the story and how inspired I am, I can work with or without an outline. For Laura’s book, I had 3 sentences to work with and I wrote it from beginning to end in order. It just happened like that, I didn’t plan it. It felt nice and organic, and it was so much fun.

For Marisol and Natalie’s, it was completely planned with a beautiful outline that had detail ideas that I wanted to approach, the different times, and whose point of view I was writing about. I felt so very organized and able to develop more clearly what I wanted to say. It also gave me the freedom to write the scene I felt more inspired to write, or the characters I wanted to write about.

Have you started your next project? If so, can you share a little bit about your book?

I have, although I don’t think is going to be ready soon enough. I have several ideas in mind, one of which I started already writing and have ready about 20 chapters of. But I recently stopped to plan further, since I want it to be a series of standalone books that have the same characters.

Also, I’d like to finish The Bridesmaid’s Checklist series before I start writing another. Denise’s book is next, and I’m excited about what’s going to happen with her story.

Who is your favorite actor and actress?

Having favorites it’s not easy for me. It’s so hard to just have one, lol. But let me tell you about some of the people I’m obsess about:

Scarlett Johansson, she’s so nice and gorgeous.

Henry Cavill, I mean… just wow.

Jason Momoa, enough said.

So, apparently I’m into super heroes.

Can you tell us a little bit about what it was like to write a series.

Writing a series was challenging to me, and I love a good challenge. Keeping track of things, subtly hinting situations from one book to the other, getting to know my characters better and exploring their personalities… I also believe that I’ve improved a lot in my writing, and I’m sure that if you liked my first book you’ll love the following if you give them a chance.

EXCERPT:

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. I’d heard that saying more than once now. And I was about to hear it once again.

“Kassie! Kassie, wake up! I’m getting married,” a high-pitched voice squealed at me at 3:00 a.m.

Who the hell is this? I had picked up the phone without even looking at the caller ID. Oh, Laura. Great.

“Kassandra, are you listening? I’m engaged!” Laura screamed from the other side of the phone.

“Yeah, wow,” I said. “Congratulations.”

“I can’t believe you, Kassie. You should be more excited. You’ll get to be my bridesmaid!” The volume of her voice kept rising.

“I’m happy for you, Laura.” I really didn’t know at the moment how I felt. I was trying to look around to see exactly where I was. “Believe me. It’s just…it’s three o’clock, and I was sleeping.”

After looking at my surroundings, I remembered I was in my own house. I had a minor headache, probably from all the drinking the night before, and my body ached a bit. I looked beside me and found the reason for my hurt.

Next to me I found the silhouette of a beautiful man. The memories of the few hours before my abrupt awakening came back at me:

A bar. A blond. My home. Some sex…in that order.

“I know it’s late, but I had to give you the good news.”

“And news it is.” She was the last of my best friends who was single; not so long ago we roamed all the bars in town together, looking for men to hook up with, and suddenly she was engaged.
