INTERVIEW:

  1. What or who inspired you to start writing? I always loved telling stories since I was a small child. My parents constantly encouraged my story telling but it was my fourth grade teacher who finally convinced me to write my stories down and see what would happen.
  2. How did you come up with ideas for your books? I love writing supernatural thrillers. Anything supernatural is a hit for me, so that makes it easy to come up with plots, story lines, etc. Yes, there’s always a bit of romance but more action than anything else. I also try to find a way to cultivate history in my book.
  3. What would you want your readers to know about you that might not be in your bio? I write for my readers. I know a lot of authors talk about their readers but I actually get to know my readers. For example, I met some of them for coffee, we go to dinners, I send birthday cards (if I know their birthday), just a few examples. A lot of them will friend me on my personal pages in social media. I create contests for my readers. Each contest is unique and quirky, but fun.
  4. As far as your writing goes, what are your future plans? I am going to continue writing and with Son of Asmodeus, I am also working closely with a filmmaker to make this a movie. It will be Demon Destroyer: Son of Asmodeus. This is very exciting for me.
  5. If you could be one of the characters from any of your books, who would it be and why? I would have to choose Mick from Son of Asmodeus. Before she came along, there was a character from Blood Prophecy that I would love to be, but Mick is the gothic bartender who is seeking her friend yet discovering her destiny. She is just spunky and so much fun!
  6. If you were the casting director for the film version of your novel, who would play your leading roles?
  7. When did you first decide to submit your work? Please tell us what or who encouraged you to take this big step? I submitted my Blood Prophecy series to World Castle Publishing and it was accepted. I took this step as one of signs that this was next for me in my writing career. My mom is one of my biggest cheerleaders next to my best friend, Frank.

  1. What is the best and worst advice you ever received? (regarding writing or publishing) This is the same question I got asked at my most recent speaking panel with several other authors (my author besties!). Great question. I would say that my best advice ever received about my writing was from my father. I had many stories published as a child in Hawaii and the stories I could tell had gotten the attention of so many others.to the point where I was overwhelmed. Because of that, my father sat my nine year old butt down and said, “Your writing is going to take you places. You may even become so famous one day that people will try to change you. Change how you want to write, what you want to write and even change how you are. Don’t let that fame, 15 minutes in the spotlight or anything like that change who you are. Be true to yourself and stick to your roots. The rest will fall into place. Don’t lose sight of who you are.” That was probably the best advice ever given to me when it came to my writing because as an author, sometimes you are asked to change a character to something you may not want or change your style. As far as the worst advice – I had an editor once tell me that I need to write to please readers to make sales. Honestly, I fired that editor immediately because they contradicted the advice I have always followed from my father.
  2. Do you outline your books or just start writing? I love this question! I write by the seat of my pants. Sometimes I don’t know how a book will start or end so I just write what comes to mind and create my world from there.
  3. Do you have any hobbies and does the knowledge you’ve gained from these carry over into your characters or the plot of your books? I have many hobbies but I know that my going to the gym and my martial arts background allows me to write descriptive fight scenes, which makes them realistic. I also love fast cars, guns and swords. I know that is totally weird for a female to some people, but I am so into those.
  4. Do you have an all time favorite book? Not really. I will read just about anything. I think the only thing I really have a hard time reading and finishing are the books where any of the characters are just so perfect – meaning they have no flaws, etc. I can’t read books if I don’t relate to the characters.
  5. Have you started your next project? If so, can you share a little bit about your book? I generally write 3-4 books at a time so Rise of the Hunter is wrapping up. That’s the 4th book in the Blood Prophecy Series. Then, I am also working on The Devil Inside Me – which is a standalone horror book on H.H. Holmes, America’s first serial killer and the second book in the Heaven and Hell series. This book will pick up where Son of Asmodeus leaves off. I also entered an exciting endeavor with 4 other authors. We are creating a shared universe with one shared character that will be in all of our books.
  6. Who is your favorite actor and actress? Honestly – I love Jack Nicholson. I can watch any of his movies all day long. I don’t think I really have a favorite actress though. I think its because I admire all actresses a little more because in today’s society, women have it a bit tougher to be convincing in movies. I mean, they have to be sexy, intelligent, strong, innocent, you name it, all for one movie. But if I truly need to pick one – it would be Vivien Leigh.
  7. Can you tell us a little bit about what it was like to write a series. I love writing series because the thoughts don’t stop coming for me. I actually “speak” to my characters so I let them tell me what comes next in the book.

19. Anything else you might want to add? My Hawaiian heritage is probably one of the most interesting things I have learned growing up and studying my family tree over the last few years. We are considered royal Hawaiians and I come from a long line of kahunas going back to the island of Molokai as far back as the 1700s. This will be available in my Blood Prophecy Series: Rise of the Hunter. As for the Heaven and Hell Series, I introduce readers to a brand new world where demons are all around us.

BLURB:

Birthright. Protector. Heaven. Hell.

A lone demon hunter, his true birthright unknown, roams the streets of Los Angeles while killing demons to prevent atrocities against the world. As the son of Asmodeus, Sully is a hunter feared by both demons and angels. His world was not the same once he walked into a bar and offered to help Mick, a gothic bartender.

Mick worried about her missing friend until the day she met Sully. The minute he walked into her bar and offered his help, her world changed. Secrets of her destiny unlocked, and he was at her side everywhere she turned. Friend. Protector.

Can they live with the secrets that are revealed to them? Will they survive the chase for the truth between Heaven and Hell?

EXCERPT:

“Demon hunter.”

“Prick,” was all John had to say before the demon made the first strike.

As the demon punched John in the side of his face, he shook off the initial shock. Tasting a drop of blood from the corner of his mouth, John cocked his head to the left and then to the right while flexing his neck muscles. Before the demon could land a second blow, John pulled out his blade. The blade was black, cut uniquely, and the hilt bore symbols that were not known to many outside the inner circle of Hell. As he angled the blade to hit the light a bit more, the demon’s eyes grew narrow.

John realized the demon was more afraid of the blade than him. He used that fear against the demon. He waved the blade, taunting his enemy. Tossing the blade from hand-to-hand excited John before the kill while he watched the demon’s fear grow.

“You smell of Asteroth. What does he want with me? Do you like my toy? Want to play with it, prick?”

“Too many questions, hunter. Asteroth wants your head; then again, don’t we all?” The demon snickered while shifting in his stance. “This body, do you like it, hunter? I thought it would be capable of killing you. This body is strong, hunter. Strong enough to kill you.” The demon shifted in the body he possessed and then went to move closer to John.
