1. What or who inspired you to start writing?

 Relationships and people’s fear of saying “I love you and care for you” not just to a partner but to the many partners we meet in our journey

2. How did you come up with ideas for your books?

My life and all my life experience

3. What expertise did you bring to your writing?

 I have 3 college/university degrees but my vast experiences I have had in life play a bigger part. Also, the loves I’ve experienced and the reservoir men.

4. What would you want your readers to know about you that might not be in your bio?

I was a miserable—— Don Juan –always falling in love, always flirting

5. As far as your writing goes, what are your future plans?

Finish the trilogy—write essays; no more books for a while

6. If you were the casting director for the film version of your novel, who would play your leading roles?

Tom Holland. I really don’t want to think about this.

8. Do you belong to a critique group? If so how does this help or hinder your writing?

No, I have no desire to. Always have been a loner.

9. When did you first decide to submit your work? Please tell us what or who encouraged you to take this big step

My ego. Once I finished the book, I submitted it.

10. What is the best and worst advice you ever received? (regarding writing or publishing

Writing must be a desire to tell a story (yours). I don’t care but I now think Reflections should be read by the youthful reader…youthful in spirit, not age.

11. Do you outline your books or just start writing?

I just write. I have points to cover, but I write in stream of consciousness and have been very happy with the results.

12. Do you have any hobbies and does the knowledge you’ve gained from these carry over into your characters or the plot of your books?

My hobby is living—

13. Do you have an all time favorite book?

Catcher in the Rye

14. Have you started your next project? If so, can you share a little bit about your book?

The third book of the trilogy is almost done

    Who is your favorite actor and actress?

I have a lot of favorites, all for different reasons and how they approach their role and acting

16. Can you tell us a little about the black moment in your book?

There are too many black moments. Please read my book and you will understand

17. Anything else you might want to add?

I am not cagy or an elitist I’m just me—these three books have been very hard for me to write because of memories and headaches that for most people would be horrible, but I just let it roll off my back and go on.

The masters – learn from them. Without James Joyce, JD Salinger, Virginia Wolfe, and Jack Kerouac, I would be a empty man and a lost writer.

EXCERPT

They continued and arrived in Flagstaff, late at night. The motel looked just like the Bates Motel. Michael hurriedly got Ron into the room, which faced the Grand Canyon. Michael had reservations so they were able to get into the room quickly. Michael went outside, standing on the porch, feeling a significant pressure on his chest.

“The air is not meshing well with the smoke in my lungs,” Michael said to himself. When he got back to the room, Ron was already sleeping with Rhonda on his leg.

The next morning, Michael got up early and woke Ron telling him to wash his face. He then took Ron to the door of their room, opened it, and walked outside. Ron just gaped at the sight of the Grand Canyon. The colors and the sun bouncing off these jagged cliffs looked like cut out mountains from a magazine.

He turned to Michael, he said, “It looks like a painted drop! Not real. How was this created? What

events led to this? I understand all the bullshit you learn in Earth Science, but this is so much more.”

Michael noticed a little tear in Ron’s eye, shed for the beauty, for the nature that Michael had always talked to him about.

“Those guys in New England, those Transcendentalists, they knew the answer, this is God. This is it! I know we will leave but I will never forget this, and the emotions it moves in me.”

“Alright I have a surprise. We are off to the North Rim of the Canyon. We are taking an entire day tour of the North Rim on the Katibah trail, exploring the inner canyons. We will travel on mules.”
