INTERVIW:

As far as your writing goes, what are your future plans?

I’ve been self publishing to build an audience and a platform, so I can get back to traditional publishing. I am working on a time travel, which was recently viewed by a literary agent in a big NYC agency. She was impressed and is waiting for the full manuscript. Self publishing is fun and I like creating my own covers, titles, etc. But it would be nice to have an agent/publisher behind me to aid in knowing how to get things done better and more professionally. I was traditionally published in 1990s and want to get back there. I will still have my self pubbed works, of course, and self publishing has taught me a LOT about marketing.

If you could be one of the characters from any of your books, who would it be and why? I’d be Dane Bainbridge. Other than the tortures this poor guy goes through, he is my “inner self.”

If you were the casting director for the film version of your novel, who would play your leading roles? For Dane, Ian Somerhalder. I use his image (with longer hair of course) for my digital mock ups of this character. (I’ve attached a picture of a digital image I manipulated for Dane, using Ian as my model.)  I have yet to find an actress for Meirah or Kaeplan, but I’m sure there are plenty of good ones. As an actress myself, I want to play Dane’s mom.
When did you first decide to submit your work?

Please tell us what or who encouraged you to take this big step? I’ve been writing since I was a little kid. At 9, I used to write picture books, the story, images, everything. I literally made my own books, giving them a publishing company name and all. I have never really done anything else. Except acting.
What is the best and worst advice you ever received?

(regarding writing or publishing) Professionally, I’ve been doing this over 30 years and have heard just about everything, good and bad. The best advice is any that doesn’t discourage people from becoming a writer, if that’s what they are truly passionate about. On the other hand, I’ve read (especially back before self publishing was a thing) so many writers tell potentials that they would be so much better off to not even bother. Very negative advice. I don’t see any of that today.
Do you outline your books or just start writing?

I just write! My characters take over and tell me what to write anyway, so an outline would not do me much good. When I started out writing novels back in the early 1990s, I would outline, but eventually as I developed my voice and characters really started speaking to me, I just let go.

Do you have any hobbies and does the knowledge you’ve gained from these carry over into your characters or the plot of your books?  I don’t know if I consider him a hobby, but my horse. He’s more my best friend, son and soulmate. But, since horseback riding is a hobby, we’ll go with that. And yes, Dane Bainbridge has horses (one of them is my own horse, but I just had to throw him in the book). I’m also an archer, and love fantasy (like LOTR fantasy), so I do have future books which will include archers.

Have you started your next project? If so, can you share a little bit about your book?  My next project is a time travel romance that I mentioned earlier. There is a literary agent in NY who is awaiting this book once it’s done. Other than that, I will be working on Book Six in my Fate of the True Vampires series. And then Book Four of this series (Anachronistic Dimensions), titled “Beyond an Icy Tomb.”

Who is your favorite actor and actress?  I don’t think I have any one favorite. I really like Johnny Depp a lot. He is so talented and versatile. I really don’t have a favorite actress.

What is your favorite reality show?  Right now, the ONLY one I watch is the Masked Singer.

Can you tell us a little bit about what it was like to write a series. The same as writing a single title, except with more books and a lot of the same characters. Most of my books started out as single title and somehow the characters had much more to say, so they ended up as a series.

BLURB:

Prepare for a new world, and a new Dimension.

Dane and Meirah are back, but they are not alone…

An enemy from their past has returned and is determined to get revenge on those he felt betrayed him and destroyed his life, his home. You’ve seen Mikaire, now enter Almareyah, where even a mere step into a puddle of water can mean torture, agony, and death.

After a fight separates Dane & Meirah, they discover their enemy has survived the death of Mikaire and he is out for revenge. And this time he has powers – wizard powers! Creating his own Dimension in the folds of time, he is unstoppable in his quest to make Meirah his Queen and Dane his blood slave.

Though this is Book Two, there is enough information to understand the plot without having read Book One.

EXCERPT:

Prelude

Dane Bainbridge died under the heat of a desert sun. At the moment of death blackness surrounded him and the pain of life vanished. Then came the light. Beautiful azure bound his body-less mind. And everywhere flowed water.

Peace.

All the troubles, tortures, fear and worry drifted away on the tides. He could have remained there forever. But soon there was something else. Red. Just a color, but not a color. Hair. Red hair. A word.

Meirah.

The word drifted through his unconscious mind, but he didn’t know what it meant.

Kaeplan.

Yes, that was a name he knew all too well. Kaeplan had killed him. They’d been fighting for centuries. And it was Dane who lost in the end.

But, if Kaeplan was here, then he must be dead too. But, where were they? Heaven? Hell? Or some other place? Hell. If such a place existed, they both deserved its fiery end.

So, even those from other dimensions went to Hell. But then…what was Hell but another Dimension in the folds of time. Just as Mikaire had been. Just as in Almareyah.

Someone was speaking. He couldn’t yet hear the words. He blinked open his eyes. That’s when he saw it. Just a sliver at first, but it grew into a ball of bright white light. Not Heaven, for if he had landed there, Bruce would be chastising him for his disbelief.

A face came into focus then, blocked out the light. She was beautiful with long brown hair that perfectly framed a sculpted face, high cheekbones and big brown eyes. She drew closer to him, and behind her he saw another. Both scantily clad.

As beautiful women closed in around him, Dane reveled in the paradise of his own thoughts.

A dream.

He tried to move, to reach to them. But the pain returned. His back aflame, his arms ached, legs stiff and sore.

Hell hath no fury… And the blackness returned once again.
