BLURB

Once a McClellan lass

Beautiful, naughty and audaciously daring, young Nickie Gray is a McClellan princess through and through—as wild and reckless as the most incorrigible of her male cousins. Now that she has reached a marriageable age, Nickie has set her amorous sights on a most unsuitable male—the notorious rake and womanizer known to all mamas on the debutante scene in London as dangerous. When her chaperone tells her all rakes are off limits, she finds the challenge one she sets her mind to.

Always a McInnis rake

Not expecting to find a ravishing woman throwing herself at him yet blatantly willing to accept whatever overtures she makes, handsome Collin McInnis is thrilled by the brazen escapades of this naïve creature and is willing to experience her high-spirited advances with no expectations of commitment. On the high seas, he is bested by a vivacious beauty whose love of freedom and adventure rivals his own…and by an inescapable tidal wave of passion that threatens to engulf them both.

While Nick’s Tender Rogue is the first in the series, Beth’s Enemy her love is the seventy-fifth book I’ve published.

EXCERPT

“Didn’t expect you to…”

She stared at his lips. Her hand rose then retreated.

It seemed to him she thought to reciprocate his caress on her mouth. More than anything now he wanted her name. “We haven’t finished the introduction. Want your name before I kiss you.” His message of intent was sent clearly to her.

“Kiss me…?” she murmured softly, her eyes absorbing a dreamy hue.

“What did you expect after you spent several hours in my bedroom? A man would presume something in return. A kiss is not much to ask.” He almost laughed at her look of indignation.

“Not by choice,” she seemed to grit out before her voice softened. “If you would apologize, I might consider staying. Might consider a kiss. Well, no, I can’t stay. Promised

Aunty I would return to the ball at an appropriate hour. Suppose it’s long past proper or   even suitable. She will send out my uncles to search for me.”

This time, he stroked her cheek with the back of his hand. “A search party? Hmm…where do you think they might start? With the young man I saw you with a few hours ago. He appeared to have come from the bedroom?” Collin didn’t like the idea she’d been in bed with a young pup earlier in the evening. “That boy is too young for you. You do know that don’t you?”

She placed her hand on his chest. Her laughter sent a jolt of apprehension through him. To Collin, that single action didn’t seem she meant to push him away. By the darkening of her eyes, it was his inclination to think she wanted to touch him. That suited him fine.

“Two years older he is.” Her hand settled on his shoulder, dipped along his arm before she suddenly withdrew.

He savored the sensations her caress sent through his body. If he didn’t miss his guess, she was exploring. Meant to discover more of what she could do to his person. “That old, is he? How old are you?” With his hand once more beneath her chin, his thumb roamed across her lip tugging slightly luring her to open for him. She either didn’t know what he wanted or she played coy.

Och, ‘Tis no your business laddie.”

One more thing he learned about her. When he unnerved her, a Scottish brogue became apparent. The sound lilting, seductive while challenging every ounce of patience he possessed.

“If our relationship progresses as I’ve planned, love, I intend to make everything about you my business.”

Pleased by her reaction as he watched her swallow then straighten her shoulders, he enjoyed the way her body moved provocatively while she seemed unaware. “Still don’t ken your name.”

“Nickie,” she sipped air.

One fingertip traced the length of her neck before following the delicate line of Belgian lace atop her corsage. “Nick,” he corrected. “Does this please you?”

“Nickie,” she gasped for breath as his roving finger dipped beneath the fabric to caress gently the valley between her breasts.

“Nick,” he insisted as he slowly pulled scarves from her bodice. One, two, three, four more. “It…it wasn’t mine…was my cousins…” Her fingers tightened on his shoulders. “You touched me!”
